The term of registration is 10 years counted from de
application date. The additional term from any renewal
until the next renewal is 10 years. A renewal can be
filed 6 months prior the due date. A six months grace
period is provided for filing a renewal application.
If any required document has not been submitted, the
office will notify the applicant to that effect and
will establish a term of 2 months in which to remedy
that situation.
A trademark may be reinstated if it can be demonstrated
that it was not possible to file an application for
renewal by reason of force major.
The list of goods and/or services can be limited but
not extended on renewals. The goods and/or services
for which the renewal is applied must be specified on
the renewal application form.
If the assignment or change of name/address has not
been recorded with the office, renewal must be filed
in the name/address of the owner of record.
