Use of a registered mark is required in order to maintain the rights to the mark and especially to prevent the mark from being vulnerable to a cancellation action.

Use must take place within a period of 3 years calculated from the granting date. If a mark has not met use requirements a subsequent use can restore the rights if a cancellation action has not been initiated before the mark is reused.

Use may be interrupted for 3 years. Trademark that is not used for more than 3 years might be subject to cancellation.
