APPLICATION FOR REGISTRATION

The works susceptible to registration are:

- Literary works: novels, stories, anthologies, didactic and scientific texts, newspaper articles, essays, computer programs, databases and generally, any kind of book or brochure.
- Musical works: works of any kind of genre.
- Plastic art works: paintings, sculptures, engravings, lithography and others.
- Architectural works: blueprints, sketches, drawings, models, scale models and others.
- Works of applied art.
- Dramatic works, dramatic and musical works, choreography and pantomime.
- Audiovisual works.
- Sketches and plastic works related to geography, land surveying or sciences.
- Multimedia supports and other products protected by copyrights.
- Documents or contract proceedings referred to Copyrights.

The requisites to be considered for registration are:

Formal:

• File a copy of the work. If it is very extensive, a two or three page synthesis shall be accepted.
• Identification of the person applying for registration.

Contents:

• The work shall be original, so that it shows the very characteristics of the author.

Other requirements:

• In case documents for registration are filed in a foreign language, a translation into Spanish language shall be attached.
• If the work has co-authors, they shall be present during registration or one of them shall be there with the consent of the rest to carry out registration. It is also accepted that a third person shows up for registration on behalf of the authors, upon presentation of consent of the authors.
 
Requirements for each kind of work:

- For the case of literary works a copy shall be filed.
- For the case of artistic works and unique works such as a painting, a sculpture, an architectural work or others, a description of the work and a photograph shall be filed. If the work has three dimensions such as the case of a sculpture, face pictures and side pictures shall be taken.
- For the case of blueprints, sketches, maps of photos, a copy shall be filed.
- For the case of audiovisual works a copy of the script would be required and a technical card with the names of all the authors and a summary of the said work.
- For musical works, a copy of the score shall be filed and one copy of the lyrics if it is available.
- For computer programs and databases, a copy of the user´s manual shall be filed. It should explain how to use the programs.
- For multimedia support and other productions, a copy shall be filed.
- For the case of contracts or any proceedings referred to Copyrights, a copy of the documents containing them shall be attached.
